Joan Vallès is Full Professor of Botany at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Barcelona and a leading Catalan ethnobotanist. His research covers plant systematics and evolution and the ethnobotanical knowledge of the Catalan linguistic area, including medicinal, food and cultural uses of plants.
