Manel J. Barbanoj (1952–2010) was a pioneering Spanish clinical pharmacologist, head of the Pharmacological Research Area at Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona and Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, whose research team conducted the first placebo-controlled human pharmacology studies of ayahuasca.
