Xavier Fernández was a Spanish independent researcher and psychotherapist who devoted much of his work to studying the psychotherapeutic potential of ayahuasca. He collaborated with IDEAA (Instituto de Etnopsicología Amazónica Aplicada) between 2003 and 2007 as therapist, researcher, and coordinator, and went on to contribute to peer-reviewed research alongside José Carlos Bouso, Sabela Fondevila, Josep María Fábregas, and Jordi Riba.
