    Founded in 2009, the International Center for Ethnobotanical Education, Research & Service (ICEERS) is a non-profit dedicated to transforming society’s relationship with psychoactive plants. We do so by engaging with some of the fundamental issues resulting from the globalization of ayahuasca, iboga, and other ethnobotanicals. 

    ICEERS is a dynamic and collaborative workspace that brings together leading experts with decades of combined expertise in the field of scientific research, psychology, pharmacology, drug policy, human rights, Indigenous rights and knowledges, systemic innovation, and psychedelics. Our headquarters is in Barcelona, Spain but we work internationally and have staff in a few other countries.


    Our team is currently seeking an experienced Social Media Specialist to help us build awareness about our organization by using a creative approach to our educational endeavors. The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for deepening our bilingual (English and Spanish) social media presence by engaging with our diverse audiences. Reporting to the Communications & Content Coordinator and working collaboratively with the Communications team, this position will be writing, curating, designing graphics, and developing content for ICEERS’ social media channels. 

    The Social Media Specialist will promote the organization’s initiatives applying innovative and inclusive storytelling via graphics, videos, and copy. In addition to being highly skilled at reaching audiences across social channels, they will also be responsible for creating content in English, working with translators, and implementing the bilingual social media content strategy. This posting will remain open until the position is filled. 

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Represent the voice of ICEERS across social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Telegram)
    • Brainstorm and create original social media content to tell the story of ICEERS and convey our mission
    • Write compelling copy and coordinates bilingual social media content (Spanish copy will be translated by someone else)
    • Use superior design abilities to create brand aware graphics and Instagram Reels
    • Work in collaboration with Communications Team to create and execute social media campaigns to support fundraising efforts
    • Pinpoint videos from the ICEERS Youtube collection to make into Instagram Reels
    • Deepen connection with followers, engage in sharing and connecting with content from allied organizations, and drive engagement across all social channels
    • Focus on ICEERS’ place in social media and encourage donations, event and training promotion, and support for our vision
    • Track and analyze social media analytics to inform content strategy and update our approaches accordingly
    • Uncover fundraising opportunities and partnerships through social media platforms

    Job Requirements

    • Social Media Coordination or Marketing: 3 years (Required)
    • Content Creation: 3 years (Required)
    • Absolutely impeccable English speaker with a passion and talent for social media
    • Basic or intermediate level Spanish
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • Mastery of programs and platforms relating to social media, such as Instagram Reels and other platform-based catered content
    • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with social media account administration, Photoshop, and video editing software
    • Strong storytelling abilities with an extensive knowledge of social media best practices and content marketing
    • Attention to detail, eye for design and excellent writing/communication skills
    • Passionate team player with the ability to work in virtual office environments
    • An interest in ethnobotanical plants, policy, and human rights is a major asset
