Harm reduction is a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to drug use that prioritizes minimizing risks and protecting health and rights over punitive responses or demands for abstinence. Applied to psychoactive plants and traditional medicines, it includes substance analysis, accurate information, peer support, integration spaces and access to care during and after difficult experiences. ICEERS develops and supports harm reduction initiatives — such as the AyaSafety course and integration support services — and contributes to international advocacy on this approach.
