José Carlos Bouso served as Scientific Director at ICEERS and continues to collaborate with the organization. A clinical psychologist with a PhD in Pharmacology, he developed his academic trajectory at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the IIB-Sant Pau Research Institute and the IMIM (Hospital del Mar Research Institute) in Barcelona, with studies on the therapeutic effects of MDMA and on the acute and long-term neuropsychiatric effects of synthetic and plant-origin substances. He has co-authored numerous studies on cannabis, ayahuasca and ibogaine.
