Legal cases linked to practices with psychoactive plants and traditional medicines have multiplied over the past two decades, affecting Indigenous practitioners, facilitators, defendants and entire communities. Since 2010, ICEERS’s legal defense program (formerly the Ayahuasca Defense Fund) has provided technical, scientific and human support to hundreds of legal cases across dozens of countries involving ayahuasca, coca, peyote, San Pedro, iboga and psilocybin-containing mushrooms. This page gathers content related to these cases and their broader implications.
